Welcome to the Temple Economics Society Forum!
First, on behalf of the society, I would like to thank you for visiting our forum and hope you have a pleasant stay.
Your participation is key for fulfilling our mission in helping to develop an online community dedicated to providing our members with the tools to aid their professional and personal developmental interests in economics and business.
In order to serve our members to the best of our abilities, some forum rules and guidelines must be in place in order to ensure a pleasant atmosphere that promotes participation and interest.
Now, as an advocate of free speech, I would hate to have to put regulations on what can and cannot be said. For now, there will be no restrictions in terms of what is said on this forum. I expect the up most maturity when making posts on this forum and remember that anything you say will reflect upon what people think of you personally. If that expectation is not met, I will be forced to include strict regulations to make sure that such things can not be said.
Understand that anything said on this public forum represents the Temple Economics Society AND Temple University. This means that Temple Economics society is responsible for whatever is said on this forum. Even though free speech is important, you must understand that TES can act however we choose in censoring certain topics, subjects, language or conversation and have the right to discipline any member who do not consider TES and Temple's best interests.
As long as posts remain professional and courteous; forum members keep open-minds and stay mindful of others views and opinions, we as an entire online community may be able to serve our members best where participation and interest can be encouraged, not discouraged.
In the mean time, I will instill guidelines 1) regarding member profiles that have a technical impact on the board itself and could influence other's experiences, and 2) regarding disciplinary actions for in-adherence to forum rules.
Believe it or not, Temple Economics Society did not make this forum from scratch. We use a separate service called Pro-Boards that allows us to customize our own forum on their platform. A lot of the technical impacts involving avatars, HTML signatures, forum scripts, etc... are mainly universal to a lot of Pro-Boards forums and I shall instill the rules that Pro-Boards has on their main forum. These rules are all implemented to make sure that everyone's experience is pleasant, interesting and most importantly, fun!
You can find these technicalities in the Rules and Guidelines section of the forum.
